Despite the efforts of an expanding team of talented grant writers, ERC receives many more requests to write grants than our company can do. Because ERC cares about the causes of educational and non-profit organizations, we have decided to extend our services beyond writing grants. While ERC will continue to write grants, we have made a commitment to build the grant writing capacity of others. For this purpose, ERC has established The Grant Writing Center, a sister company that will offer high quality grant writing training programs, beginning with live workshops in selected locations.
ERC's Smart Grant Writing Workshop was launched this past Friday, February 27, at the Hilton in Stockton California. Participants included a combination of school district administrators and leaders of non-profit organizations. During the six-hour, interactive seminar, participants learned how to find the right funding opportunity, how to read and understand the jargon in a grant application, and how to write a persuasive grant proposal, section by section, that satisfies the most important questions commonly asked by funding agencies.
The seminar was co-led by Steve Carlson, former Director of Grants and Program Development in Sanger Unified School District, and Dr. Stephen Price, who has served ERC as a grant writer since its inception. After getting positive feedback on the benefits of the workshop from those who attended, the Grant Writing Center plans to offer more workshops at other locations during the year, in addition to online training options and a one-on-one mentoring program. If you are interested in grant writing training, please call ERC's Grant Writing Center at 559-230-2104 for more information.
